During the warmer months, you'll find me outside enjoying nature. I have one main perennial bed and several smaller gardens at my home.
My zone 5 perennial bed was planted in the fall of 2004 with a layout and plants ordered from Bluestone Perennials. However, I have added my own touches here and there. It consists of many easy-to-grow perennials that put on a great show from spring until fall.
I also have a small pond with a few goldfish and water plants. My husband installed this for me in the spring of 2003 and then enlarged it in September of 2005. In the spring of 2007 we finally added a UV filter and our green water problems seem to be over.
I have a shade garden (also from Bluestone) in between my house and garage and my Pink & Purple garden on the opposite side. Well, it used to be just pink and purple until my mom gave me some pink cranesbill geranium that had some creeping buttercups stowing away in them! Oh well. I can be heartless and pull out any unwanted sprouts!
My newest addition is a small corner bed in which I have planted annuals in the past, but in 2008 I will be trying some vegetables instead. I have been planting up my tomatoes in planters for the past few years and want to give them some more room this year. We'll see what comes up!
