Preparing the Templates
You will need the following items to prepare your templates....

Use your iron to press over blank freezer paper to pre-shrink it.
You can make a light box using a piece of glass and a long utility light - both found at the hardware store - and four equally tall items (like custard cups!) I covered the edges of my glass with tape for safety.Place your pattern face down on the light box so the design will be reversed when you trace it.Starting with the pieces that are "in the back," use your marker to assign each piece a number. I like to group like pieces together when numbering. Here is my pattern with the numbering completed.Put your freezer paper (shiny side down!) on top of each pattern piece and trace it with your marker. Be sure to transfer the number as well!Be sure to continue any "broken" lines when tracing. You can usually eyeball where the piece continues.Trace all pieces (in numerical order so you'll stay on track!) and their numbers. Pieces can be traced close together because they will be cut on the drawn lines.Be sure to leave yourself some overlap when one piece goes underneath another. When tracing pieces -- especially smaller ones -- make sure your number is written in a place where it will be visible after the fabric edges are turned over onto it.Here are my completed freezer paper templates for this block.Using paper scissors, cut out each piece on the drawn lines. Here is one completed template. All templates have been cut out and are ready to press onto the fabric.
